This blog should have been called "Elgar's Birthplace and the Plough Inn, Upper Broadheath".

Then this happened.

Another one bites the dust
My guide book says this "100 year old pub has been thoroughly modernised to be the popular place it is today".  I am unsure what is the most disappointing, the fact that a pub located on the driveway to a tourist attraction, Elgar's Museum, cannot make a go of it or that I can find no record on the Internet of the circumstances of its closure.

Lamenting the loss of our heritage, we head off for a simple walk, showing where Elgar gained inspiration for his music - The Malvern Hills.

Nothing to report from the walk - no caches, bulls successfully restrained by fencing.  We are simply making the most of the light evenings as they slowly fade away.

Post walk refreshment wise, we passed two untested pubs.  It could have been the Bell.  It was the Dewdrop.

Where the Crown has failed, the Dewdrop has succeeded.  They've converted the land into a small hotel, which was doing a decent trade with Worcester based business men who wanted something more for their dollar than a travelodge.  The restaurant looked superb.

Beer wise - real ale conundrum and forced to choose between two favourites.  I can get Wye Valley HPA from my local, so I went Yorkshire.

£8.45 for two pints must also help with keeping a business afloat.
