First Cache

Fladbury Geocaching

Start of a new month and the sun is shining.  May as well go out and get some smileys on the board.

Decide to head out for a series in Fladbury.  Somewhere near Wyre Piddle and Evesham.

Park up at the cricket club and can hear the roar of a hot air balloon overhead.  They have picked a good day for it.

Up, up and away

find the footpath down alongside the railway line.  Don't see a train all day.  Must be engineering works.

No point trying to travel on a Sunday

First cache sets the scene for the day - a smallish micro hidden out of site that requires a leap of faith to stick your hand somewhere you cannot see.  One of these days, I am going to hit something unsavory.

Cache 2 isn't on the trail but a bonus.  Got the clue and spent a long, long time staring at something that met it with no success.  First DNF and had the added ignominy of walking back over GZ on the return visit.

Walk our way up to Lower Moor, picking up cache 3 and seeing what looks like a superb pub.... with nearly 500 years of boozing to its name.  Pity its 9am on a Sunday.  Think I will pop in next time I am going past.

1537 - Built.  2012 - Beerfest.

Lower Moor turns into Upper Moor, just on the outskirts of Wyre Piddle.  The road has been subject of a by pass, so nice easy walking to get cache 3 and 4.  Signs say that the road is only open to buses and the emergency services.

Then take the Avon Way down a narrow, tree lined path.  There is a bonus cache down here that is big enough for a TB swap.

The paths aren't directly matching the OS map as we pass Cache 5 where I am muggled by a jogger with a whippet.  Have DNF on 6 (too smelly next to the sewage works) and 7 (which is guarded by a time wasting fisherman).

The area marked gravel pit on the map is now a rather nice caravan park - with stunning views over to Bredon Hill.  Caravanning makes sense in this weather and after this blog, I am googling "Static Caravans in the Lake District for sale".

Nice easy walking through fields and allotments to pick up the remaining caches.  Lots of gardeners out and about and who can blame them.  The bright skies mean that I got better photos by changing from Intelligent Auto to Manual mode and messing with Aperature and Shutter speed settings...  I must have picked some knowledge up from last weeks course.

End of the days caching.  Need a dog that can pose.
